UDR - Registry Technology for .hk.com | .hk.org | .ltd.hk | .inc.hk

Universal Domain Registry (UDR) has designed its robust network infrastructure to assure 100% uptime, continuous stability, low latency, and maximum security. Our technology is designed and periodically upgraded specifically to guarantee service quality and reliability.

Registry Access

Registrars access our Registry using EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol). The Registry is setup to allow creation, deletion, and management of domains in real-time.

DNS Infrastructure

Our Registry’s DNS infrastructure is geographically distributed between Asia and the USA, ensuring service stability. We additionally use a variety of DNS server technologies and service providers, encompassing a mixture of unicast and anycast network addressing system methodologies.

Service Monitoring

Our Registry and DNS infrastructure, monitored every minute from 50 different Internet locations, provide real-time reporting of service performance. All latency and network availability figures are recorded by a contracted 3rd party to ensure that service quality is maintained.

Future Technologies to be implemented

UDR currently has plans to implement the following technologies to our Infrastructure:
  • Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) – A set of security extensions to DNS for securing creation kinds of DNS data
  • Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) – A communications protocol that provides an identification and location system in 128-bit addresses
  • International Domain Names (IDN) – Internet domain names which contain characters from a language-specific script or alphabet
